Villa il Vittoriale
Art Deco home on the shores of Lake Garda in the town of Gardone.
Villa il Vittoriale was created by the poet and writer Gabriele d'Annunzio. Together with the arcitect Gian Carlo Maroni he created an estate which comprises a grand villa which has guided tours and a hillside parkland. Many of the rooms which contain interesting artifacts are open to the public.
The grounds contain a ship built into the hillside park as a tribute to his comrades who died in the private invasion of Fiume. There is also a hanger on the hillside conting the plane he used to fly over vienna.
The villa is set on gentle slopes overlooking the lake.
