One of the best places on the Costa del Sol for nightlife is Benalmadena, with many different types of bars, clubs, restaurants that there is always something to suit all tastes
Covering an area of almost 30Km, Benalmadena is 19 kilometres from Malaga Airport between the resorts of Fuengirola and Torremolinos, although due to the expansion of both Benalmadena Costa and Torremolinos there is little distinction in terms of distance between the two.
Catering almost exclusively for package holidays, it is easy to reach from both Malaga capital and International Airport by road, train or bus. Behind the rather rocky beaches and a very large marina, which has become the focal point of the town, is a plethora of tourist attractions, including excellent port facilities, fantastic nightlife and the fabulous Aquarium. The marina has been rated amongst the best in the world and it has attracted the 'Best Marina in the World' award on several occasions.
Benalmadena, with its privileged position looking out onto the Mediterranean Sea, is split into two sections with Benalmadena Costa being the part of most interest to the many tourists who visit this popular Costa del Sol resort every year. Benalmadena Costa is a purpose-built coastal resort extending 8km along the coast which climbs steeply up into mountains behind. The cable car from the coast up to the top of the mountain is a well worthwhile trip but not recommended for those with a fear of heights.
A popular resort, the area is crammed with a variety of nightclubs and bars and with the huge number of resident and visiting foreign tourists, the variety of types of restaurants is plentiful.
