One of Mallorca's smallest villages
This lovely village, one of the smallest in Mallorca, is the onlt settlement in the Vall d'Orient, a 'golden valley' of almond and olive groves. The most dramtic approach is from Alaro, where the table mountains of Puig de S'Alcadena and Puig d'Alaro loom on either side of the road to form a gateway. The village has a population of just 30 yet it manages to support two hotels and several restaurants thanks to weekend trippers from Palma.
Some good walks start from here. The ascent to Castell d'Alaro begins on a marked path 200m beyond L'Hermitage Hotel.
