Corralejo

Corralejo is a tourist resort situated at the northern end of Fuerteventura with a lively atmosphere and beautiful surrounding countryside.

This much-expanded fishing village is now one of the island's most important resorts. Resembling the Shara in places,its main attraction has to be the belt of glorious sand dunes, protected as a nature reserve.

Considerably larger than Caleta de Fuste with a more touristy feel, there is no shortage of accommodation in Correlejo, with many hotels and apartments spilling out into the town centre. The port is lively with planty of fish restaurants and a very efficient 15 minute ferry ride to Lanzarote close at hand.

Off-shore is the tiny Isla de los Lobos, which is extremely popular with divers, water-sports and glass-bottom cruise boats where less adventurous tourists can be taken in comfort to the island for swimming and barbecue trips.

Home to a town beach right next to the central promenade, some parts of the beach here are popular with naturists. The attitude to naturism on Fuerteventura is relaxed and as such there are no designated naturist beaches.

Corralejo's restaurants cater for all tastes from English fish and chips to Mexican tacos or Indian curry! There is a variety of lively nightlife in Corralejo with plenty of English and Irish bars, with lots of places playing live music well into the small hours.

AMENITIES There is a terrific communal pool, and infant pool adjacent to the house. The house is 30 euros in a taxi from the airport (20 min drive). Airport transfers can be arranged for you. The house is close to local bars, restaurants, and a supermarket, and a 10 minute walk from the Baku complex (waterpark, bowling alley, market etc). The heart of Correlejo with its extensive range of bars and shops can be reached easily in 20 minutes by foot (maximum by a gentle stroll). This includes the marina where you will find the Fred Olsen Ferry which sails to Lanzarote (15 minute crossing). Further, the house is only a 5 minute drive from the new Oliva Golf Course (under construction). The house is also a gentle 20 minute walk from the Parque Natural with its breathtaking beaches and sand dunes that stretch for miles (Oliva Beach, Flag Beach, Waikiki Beach etc). Car hire is not necessary. The airport is 10 kilometres away, the nearest beach is 1 kilometre away, the nearest supermarket is 250 metres. If you do hire a car, and there are so many spectacular places to see that it would be ashamed not to, you will find that you are only a short drive from the Chipmunks, Baku village (water park, market, ten pin bowling), the mountains and the harbour. Travel 35 minutes drive from the airport (approx 38km). There are a number of car hire companies located within the airport terminal with reasonably priced taxis also being widely available.
