Costa Teguise

Situated on the southeast corner of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise is a haven for families and sun-seekers.

Just north of Arrecife, this purpose-built resort is largely financed by a mining conglomerate, has transformed the arid, low-lying terrain north of Arrecife into an extensive cluster of timeshare accommodation, leisure clubs and luxury hotels. The wonderful white beaches here are renowned for their perfect windsurfing conditions and are very popular with watersports enthusiasts. Playa de las Cucharas is probably the best of the three beaches with uninterrupted views and crystal clear blue waters.

The contrast between old town Teguise, Lanzarote's former capital, and the exclusive, new Costa Teguise is striking. The high level of investment here has suceeded in attracting jet-set clientele. King Juan Carlos also has a villa here.

More low key than some adjoining resorts, Costa Teguise retains a community feel offering a good selection shops around the resort and in the La Cucharas Shopping Complex, as well as the popular Sunday market at Teguise is well worth a visit.
