Montjuic Castle
Montjuic Castle, built for the Bourbon family, is a massive fortification dating from the 17th century
Montjuic Castle overlooks Barcelona from its elevated position at the top of a cliff, making it one of the best observation points for views across the city.
The first castle built here was destroyed by Felipe V in 1705.
In order to reach the castle, which is today a military museum, you are encouraged to sample one of the most unique modes of transport available in the city, the Montjuic cable car.
On display in the Museum there are many weapons and military memorabilia from a variety of historical periods and from areas all around the world.
Also located within the Castle is the Museum of Comics and Illustration. It is home to the protagonists of Spanish children's comics over the years.
