Lying about 50 km south west of Alicante, Torrevieja has beautiful beaches, excellent weather and plenty to offer the whole family.
For the shoppers it is a must to visit the huge market in Torrevieja (Friday mornings) or the popular market nearby at Playa Flamenca (Saturday mornings). For the more relaxed, try a glass-bottom boat trip. For the water-sport enthusiast, the island of Tabarca offers excellent scuba-diving and snorkeling.
If you are driving to Torrevieja, via the road N332, you will experience some amazing views of this very pretty area of Spain. When you arrive, staff at the Tourist Information office in Torrevieja are very helpful, (English speaking) –from here you can obtain maps and local information.
Increasing in popularity since the 1980s, when thousands of Europeans purchased homes here, Torrevieja is full of history, from the Roman pier at La Mata to wonderful churches. Surrounded by the famous salt lagoons on the road down from Alicante, before tourism, the town’s main source of income was sea salt. The salt works are the most productive in Europe and the second most important in the world.
Torrevieja stages a festival of habaneras, (melodic songs originating in Cuba), brought back to Spain by salt exporters.
Having the best climate in Europe, according to the World Health Organisation), the local people here are very welcoming. Although very ‘Spanish’, banks and restaurants nearly always seem to have someone who speaks English.
Alicante airport is approximately 48km away (about a 45 minute drive) and Murcia airport is about a 30 minute drive away.
This one bedroom ground floor apartment is situated in Torrevieja town, close to bars, restaurants, shops. The building has ramps for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The bedroom has a double bed, fully tiled and fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing machine, electric oven and hob. 2 sofas in the living room, dining table and 4 chairs and English TV channels. Although the property will sleep 4 we would recommend 2-3 adults comfortably or 2 adults and 2 young children.
Beautiful upstairs bungalow, 2 bedroom, one bathroom, furnished with an independent kitchen. Living area, terrace, air conditioning, English TV, newly decorated. Garage space & underground parking, solarium with views, positioned next to communal pool and just 5 mins walk to local water park and 15mins walk to the beach.
