Long standing theme park built on one of Florida's largest freshwater springs
In the 1940's, ex-navy frogman Newton Perry hit the idea of using women swimmers to take the part of 'live mermaids' performing a kind of underwater ballet. A theatre was built with strategically place air pipes for the swimmers to take in air.
Other attractions include Buccaneer Bay water park, a children's zoo and a popular wilderness river cruise.
